Research & evidence
Built on research.
Driven by innovation.
GutSense is based on a simple principle: when people receive clear feedback about their bowel patterns, they can become more aware of changes and their daily habits.

The research question
What did the researchers want to investigate?
The published study investigated usability, self-awareness, and perceived support for behaviors related to gut health in real users.
- 01Can direct feedback increase self-awareness?
- 02Are traffic light and voice feedback easy to understand?
- 03Can feedback influence daily behaviors such as diet and fluid intake?
- 04How do users perceive the product's usability?

The study
From idea to published study
The GutSense technology has been evaluated with real users, both for usability and for how feedback can influence self-awareness and daily behaviors.
- 01Phase 1
12 weeks · 10 participants
Five participants received AI-based traffic light and voice feedback, while five used the same hardware without feedback. Researchers monitored, among other things, stool form and frequency over time.
- 02Phase 2
31 users · approximately 14 days
The commercial version was evaluated through user testing, 25 survey questions, and the System Usability Scale (SUS), focusing on comprehensibility, usability, and perceived support for health-related behaviors.

- System Usability Scale

System Usability Scale
- Positive responses regarding early awareness of changes in bowel function
87,1 %
Positive responses regarding early awareness of changes in bowel function
- Positive responses regarding support for maintaining or improving gut health
77,4 %
Positive responses regarding support for maintaining or improving gut health
- Positive responses regarding constipation-related improvement
74,2 %
Positive responses regarding constipation-related improvement
The figures refer to users' responses in the study's survey and the result on the System Usability Scale, respectively. They do not constitute measures of clinical effect, sensitivity, or specificity.

For you
For the curious
For those curious about longevity, gut health, and what the body communicates over time.

For healthcare, research & public sector
For healthcare and care
For healthcare professionals, researchers, municipalities, and regions who want to understand the technology, research, and opportunities for pilot and follow-up.
The Principle
From feedback to insight
The idea behind the research is simple: when you receive clear feedback about your bowel patterns, it becomes easier to notice changes. Increased self-awareness can, in turn, make it easier to reflect on daily habits.

The AI analysis
Trained by 7000 observations
The AI model is trained on thousands of observations to provide accurate and relevant feedback.

- 01
Collection
The device collects data on stool form, color, and frequency.
- 02
Analysis
The AI model analyzes the data and identifies patterns.
- 03
Feedback
The user receives direct feedback via traffic light signals and voice.
- 04
Insight
Increased self-awareness and support for healthy habits.
Transparency
What the results mean – and do not mean
The study supports
The results support that clear feedback can be understandable and useful, and show promising signals regarding self-awareness and health-related daily behaviors.
The study does not prove
The study does not show that GutSense diagnoses disease or replaces medical judgment. Nor does it establish clinical sensitivity or specificity for, for example, cancer, diabetes, or other diseases.
Development
From development to everyday life
GutSense AI BIDET is developed in Sweden, with a focus on user-friendliness and integration into daily life.
